A few days ago, I had the pleasure of receiving a makeup case filled with an array of Arbonne cosmetics to test and review on my blog. As a makeup artist and enthusiast, there's nothing quite like the excitement of trying out and swatching new products to your heart's content. I couldn't wait to dive into the world of Arbonne and share my thoughts with you all.

Arbonne, a brand that prides itself on its commitment to being green, was founded in Switzerland in 1975. Since then, it has expanded its product line to encompass both inner and outer health and beauty products that are renowned for their quality, safety, and effectiveness. With this knowledge in mind, I approached my testing phase with an open mind and handpicked a selection of products to wear and review over three days.

The Beauty Journey Begins

The makeup I chose to try included a range of items, such as a Makeup Primer, Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15, FC5 Mattifying Powder, Blush in Taffeta, It's a Long Story Mascara, Lip liner in Tulip, Glossed Over Lip Gloss in Calla, and the Golden Coast Palette. Each product held its unique promise and potential.

Makeup Primer: A Skin's Best Friend

One of Arbonne's cult favorites, the Makeup Primer, delivered a lightweight feel on the skin, thanks to its smoothing pearl texture. Comparable to the renowned Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, this primer felt comforting without weighing down the skin. Although I typically prefer moisturizing before foundation application for my day-to-day routine, I thoroughly enjoyed using this primer over the past three days. It left my skin feeling soft, smooth, and pampered.

Perfecting Liquid Foundation: Finding the Right Shade

For the Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15, I mixed the Alabaster and Soft Blush shades to create a warm, healthy complexion on my face. With excellent coverage and a medium to full finish, this foundation impressed me. The added SPF was a wonderful bonus, as I value skincare and sun protection immensely. The packaging also caught my attention, with its clear bottle that allows you to see exactly how much foundation is left. The pump dispenser ensured cleanliness and hygiene during application. While the foundation lasted well throughout the day, I did notice some shine and slight breakage, which may have been due to the age of the sample or my busy day. Please note, the newer packaging may look slightly different from the images provided.

It's worth mentioning that some individuals have expressed concerns about the use of Dimethicone in the foundation. Dimethicone is a man-made silicone oil often used in skincare products as a protective and conditioning agent. However, studies suggest that it may make dry skin worse over time by creating a barrier on the surface rather than deeply moisturizing. Notably, Dimethicone has been approved by the FDA and deemed safe for use in personal care products by the CIR. It's a common ingredient found in many popular foundations, such as MAC's Studio Fix Fluid, Tom Ford's Traceless, and Charlotte Tilbury's Light Wonder. Personally, I haven't experienced any skin irritation from Dimethicone.

FC5 Mattifying Powder: A Matter of Personal Preference

As someone who typically uses MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus as a finishing and mattifying powder, I found the FC5 Mattifying Powder less appealing. It had a chalky texture and accentuated fine lines under my eyes (as evident in the makeup look image). However, as the day progressed and the powder settled into my skin, the over-powdered finish diminished. If you enjoy products similar to Collection's setting powder, you may find this mattifying powder more to your liking. As always, individual results may vary.

Blush in Taffeta: A Pop of Vibrant Color

The blush in the shade Taffeta proved to be a hit for me. Its vibrant pink hue boasted impressive pigmentation and smooth application. I utilized this blush not only on my cheeks but also as eyeshadow. The finish and wear-time were excellent, though I recommend using a light hand to achieve the desired effect.

Golden Coast Palette: Shimmering Beauty

Throughout my experience, each eyeshadow shade in the Golden Coast Palette (and the Country Garden palette, not pictured) delivered highly pigmented results with a buttery smooth finish. However, I noticed some fallout during application, so I suggest tapping off any excess before applying the shadows to the lids. Notably, the "Beach" shade strongly resembles MAC's Fluidline in Rich Ground, but in powder form. Additionally, the "Sandbar" shade works wonders as a brow highlight or as an all-over lid color wash. While the palette includes a dual-ended brush with a brush on one side and a sponge applicator on the other, I recommend investing in a proper eyeshadow brush for more effective application and blending.

It's a Long Story Mascara: For Bold Lashes

The first thing I noticed about the "It's a Long Story" Mascara was its strong scent, which I found slightly overpowering. This mascara applied smoothly and evenly, coating my lashes beautifully. However, I experienced some sensitivity to the formula, resulting in my eyes watering throughout the day. On a positive note, the mascara did not smudge or run despite my watery eyes. For an alternative, I recommend Urban Decay's mascara in Perversion, which offers similar application, coverage, and wear without the potent scent.

Lip Liner in Tulip: A Perfect Match

Among the items I sampled, the lip liner in the shade Tulip quickly became one of my favorites. Its highly pigmented color matched the shade on the tube precisely, a rarity in many lip liners. The roll-up design eliminated the need for sharpening, although a sharpener is conveniently attached to the end for a finer point. The color lasted throughout the day, even after eating and drinking. This lip liner would be an excellent addition to any bride's makeup or for those who prefer long-lasting lip products.

Glossed Over Lip Gloss in Calla: A Luscious Lacquer

Another standout product was the Glossed Over Lip Gloss in Calla. This gloss boasted highly pigmented color, akin to a lip lacquer. Its dense texture felt comfortable on the lips, with a delightful absence of stickiness. I thoroughly enjoyed using this gloss and believe it would be a hit among my clients as well. The pleasant scent was an added bonus.

Unveiling My Arbonne-Inspired Looks

Below, you'll find three distinct makeup looks that I created using the Arbonne products. From natural to dramatic, each look showcases the versatility of the cosmetics that I had the pleasure of trying.

Final Thoughts: A Beauty Journey with Arbonne

Overall, my experience with Arbonne products was nothing short of enjoyable. Some items, such as the foundations, lip liners, and lip glosses, stood out to me as worthy additions to anyone's makeup collection. If I were to select a few products to incorporate into my kit, the lip glosses would be at the top of my list.

I hope you enjoyed reading my Arbonne makeup review and that it has inspired you to explore the brand's offerings. Remember, beauty is a personal journey, and what works for one may not work for another. It's all about finding your perfect match and celebrating your unique beauty.
