Healthcare remains a top concern for Millennials, and health IT is gaining importance in our lives. During National Health IT Week, individuals share their health IT stories, raising awareness of the value of health IT. However, despite the significance of healthcare, health literacy is lacking. Only 12% of U.S. adults have proficient health literacy, hindering our ability to make informed health decisions.

Typically, we only think about healthcare when we or our loved ones face health challenges. But we should strive to be more proactive and engaged in our overall wellness. Shifting our mindset from healthcare to wellness can increase our health and health IT literacy. When we think about wellness, we consider various activities such as exercise, nutrition, vacations, and positive attitudes.

To be well, we need to take action and address our mind, body, and soul. Finding the right practices for our bodies can be overwhelming, but it's crucial to prioritize regular exercise, healthy eating, and proper hygiene. Experiment with different activities, like running, biking, walking, or hiking, to discover what works best for you. Don't make excuses — schedule time for your body wellness.

Mental health is equally important. Physical exercise can also contribute to mental well-being and brain health. Take time to connect with nature, meditate, or engage in meaningful conversations. Addressing our souls is also vital. Find activities that rejuvenate your inner drive and provide relief. Appreciate the wonders of the world, attend inspiring conferences, or immerse yourself in a good book.

When we get ill or face health challenges, we need to be proactive and play an active role in our recovery. Ask questions, seek information, and make informed decisions. Healthcare professionals, therapists, and counselors can offer guidance, but it's crucial to actively participate in our care process. Surround yourself with a supportive community to aid in your healing journey.

Staying well is a continuous effort that requires consistency. Consistent, healthy practices across our mind, body, and soul are essential. Utilize wellness apps to measure and track your progress in each area. Incorporate meditation, exercise tracking, and moments of unplugging into your routine.
