In the world of beauty , one product has caused quite a stir on TikTok. People are divided on whether it's a holy grail or a complete flop. As a beauty writer, I couldn't resist trying it myself and sharing my thoughts. So, here's my review of Jones Road What the Foundation.

The Basics

Let's start with the essentials. The foundation comes in 12 shades, which correspond with the brand's Face Pencil. This magical "tinted moisture balm" is formulated with jojoba oil and sodium hyaluronate to provide both hydration and nourishment to the skin. It offers light coverage with a stunning dewy finish. If you prefer a more matte look, you can set it with powder.

Controversy and Reviews

As with any viral product, there are mixed opinions. Some TikTokers were disappointed with their experience, often due to incorrect application techniques or personal preferences. However, there are also many who absolutely love it. @iamsohello and Shelbey Wilson, for example, rave about the coverage and texture. They find it perfect for those who prefer a lighter touch.

My Experience

I had a feeling I would enjoy What the Foundation, as I usually opt for light coverage with a natural finish. If you're a fan of full coverage or a matte look, this might not be your cup of tea. Bobbi Brown herself advises against using moisturizer as a base, as the foundation is moisturizing enough on its own. So, I only applied sunscreen before applying the foundation.

Using shade Beige, I gently rubbed a light layer onto my skin, treating it like a part of my skincare routine. It looked lovely, but I wanted to test the coverage further. I added another layer and used a bit of Face Pencil in shade 08 on my red areas. The results were impressive, and you can see the transformation in action.

The Final Verdict

I have to say, the results were really nice. The finish was dewy, but not greasy on my combination skin. I used a little powder under my eyes to prevent creasing. The formula smoothed out my dry spots, covered some redness, and evened out my skin tone. The best part? My freckles were still visible, which is something I appreciate as I age. This foundation has become my go-to for everyday makeup.

Of course, everyone's preferences and skin types differ, so it might not be the best fit for everyone. However, if you're looking for that "your skin but better" vibe, then What the Foundation deserves a spot in your makeup collection. But be warned, due to the hype, this product tends to sell out quickly. So, grab yours while you still can!
