The newest version of the ASICS Metaspeed has arrived, just in time for this year's Olympics. The Metaspeed Sky Paris and Metaspeed Edge Paris have undergone some exciting changes to their midsoles and uppers, making them even lighter and snappier.

A Bouncier Feel and Enhanced Responsiveness

On my first wear, I immediately noticed the difference in the feel of these shoes. The Metaspeed Sky Paris felt bouncier than ever, which I absolutely love in a racing flat. On the other hand, the Metaspeed Edge Paris offered a more responsive ride. These updates have truly elevated an already stellar racing flat.

Improved Upper for Enhanced Comfort and Support

One significant improvement to the Metaspeed Sky Paris and Metaspeed Edge Paris is the addition of MOTION WRAP 2.0 to the upper. This new upper design aims to provide both comfort and enhanced support to your feet, ensuring your form remains uncompromised even as you become fatigued. The snug and comfortable fit keeps your foot in place, while the new fabric enhances breathability, making it ideal for sweaty or rainy days during marathons.

Differences in the Midsole Design

The Metaspeed Edge Paris and Metaspeed Sky Paris differ in the geometry and construction of their midsoles. Both shoes utilize the new FF Turbo Plus midsole, which is lighter and bouncier compared to previous versions.

The Metaspeed Sky Paris, my personal favorite, offers an even bouncier feel, which is especially appreciated during intense workouts. This is due in part to the new foam and the widened carbon plate, designed to provide added propulsion during toe-off. The plate sits closer to the top of the midsole in the Sky model, while in the Edge model, the plate forms a ladle shape, dipping down in the forefoot and coming up to meet the heel.

For runners with a quicker cadence, the Edge model provides a slightly firmer and more responsive ride, as it is intended for less time spent in the air.

Dependable Outsole Grip

The outsole of both the Metaspeed Sky Paris and Metaspeed Edge Paris remains ASICSGRIP, albeit used a touch more sparingly than in previous models. During my workouts on the track and road, I found that this change did not compromise grip or traction.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Metaspeed Sky Paris and Metaspeed Edge Paris remain among my favorite shoes. I choose the Sky model for all my track workouts since it provides the responsiveness I need while keeping my foot stable around corners. With the Metaspeed Paris, I feel even better supported. Keep in mind that these shoes tend to run a touch small, so I recommend going up half a size from the previous model. If you already enjoy the Metaspeed Edge and Sky+, I'm confident you'll be delighted with the ride of the Paris.

Now, it's time to lace up and hit the track with confidence!
